The standard we aim for
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, which is also broadly aligned with the European standard EN 301 549. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we work to improve the experience continually rather than treating it as finished.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML with a clear heading structure and landmark regions (header, navigation, main content, footer).
- A “Skip to content” link and visible keyboard focus indicators on interactive elements.
- Descriptive alternative text on product and content images; purely decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Colour contrast that meets WCAG AA on body text, buttons and controls.
- A keyboard-operable cart, menus and dialogs, with focus moved into and returned from overlays.
- Touch targets sized for comfortable use on mobile.
- Automated and manual accessibility testing after changes to the store.
Known limitations
Some parts of the store rely on the Shopify platform and third-party services that we do not fully control. If you meet a barrier in any of these, please tell us and we will do our best to give you the information or complete your order another way.
